Our Chapter

Last updated - May 9, 2018

Founded in 1992, Siskiyou Decorative Artists is a group of decorative artistsmaking up the Southern Oregon Chapter of the Society of Decorative Painters. We are in Jackson/Josephine Counties, meeting at the Live Oak Grange Hall in Rogue River, Oregon.

Decorative painting is a diverse art form that utilizes a variety of techniques and media to decorate both functional and non-functional surfaces. The scope of contemporary decorative painting is boundless. Styles and techniques of the past are incorporated into the trends and materials of the present, while developing the decorative art heritage of the future. In recent years, “decorative painting” has replaced the older “tole painting” term. Decorative painting uses various mediums - acrylic, oils, watercolors and colored pencils, and is done on a variety of surfaces such as wood, canvas, paper, glass, fabric, tin/metal and more.

We at SDA, come together to build friendships and share the love of our craft. Our chapter wishes to stimulate an interest in decorative painting and to recognize diversity of and excellence of the art form.

We hold monthly meetings where we paint projects in a variety of mediums and at various skill levels. If you are interested in decorative painting, please check out our website for up coming events. We urge anyone who is interested in decorative painting to join us in developing their talents and skills.
